FMA. Federal Mistreatment of Americans. Wow. For those of you who have been living under a rock, in a short while, Senators will be voting on one of the most controversial issues (well, so proclaimed, at least), in this time. The FMA (Federal Marriage Amendment) is basically the amendment which will stop all same-sex couples from getting married. There are many ways that I disagree with this act, but nonetheless, it's getting voted on. And honestly, they've made a quite disgusting ad for Ohio citizens. It reads: "Unless the Senate passes the Federal Marriage Amendment, homosexual marriage could be coming to Ohio-and sooner than you think. Here's the bottom line: homosexual marriage intentionally creates fatherless families or motherless families. Think about it. "Ohio's senators have said nice things about marriage. But so far they won't take the one step that will save it. They won't support the Federal Marriage Amendment. We thought you would like to know. "Every child understands how important a mom and a dad are. Help make your senators as smart as a kid. Pick up the phone and tell their staffs you support the Federal Marriage Amendment, and they should too." Not only is this anti-gay, it's kind of attacking single parent families as well. And oh, the semantics. Yes, same sex couples will intentionally create a motherless or a fatherless family. But it's not like they're doing it just to spite straight couples. And more importantly, nowhere does it say they're making loveless families, and that, my friends, is what matters to me. Every child may know the importance of a mom and a dad. But unfortunately, in America, and everywhere, not every child knows the importance of being loved. Children deserve a good home. And good homes and loving families are not bound to the traditional "One Man, One Woman" way of thinking. And that's that for me. Sidenote: Who says that all same-sex couples who get married are going to HAVE kids anyway? And if so, do you think they're all moving to Ohio? <-Ghost-> |
